Interface are use to connect devices with computer. It controls data transmission between devices of a computer. A few types of hard disk drive interfaces are as follow:

USB Interface: With the help of USB interface, you can connect low speed external device such as mouse, keyboard, hard disk drive and scanner. Also you can connect some high speed external devices such as digital camera, mobile phone etc. We can connect 127 devices with single USB.

IDE/ATA Interface: This interface is used to connect hard disk drive directly to a motherboard of a computer. It has 40 pins connector. The transfer speed of IDE/ATA interface is 66 MB/second to 133 MB/second.

SATA Interface: This interface is used to connect hard disk drive to a computer. This interface has 7 or 15 pins connector. The SATA Interface simplifies the cable routing and improve the airflow, which in term keeps the computer cool. The speed of SATA interface is 1.5 GB/second to 3 GB/second.
SCSI Interface: This interface is usually used in servers. With the help of this interface you can connect various devices such as hard disk drive, optical disk drive to a computer by using a 80 pins connector. You can connects up to 8 devices with the help of common SCSI interface. The speed of SCSI interface is 160 MB/second to 320 MB/second.
