According to the Ramayana , when Hanuman ji came out in search of Goddess Sita, crossed the sea and reached Lanka, his footprints were printed on the land there. Those footprints can still be seen there.

According to Ramayana, after Sita Haran, Ravana first placed Goddess Sita in a cave here and the entrance of that cave was exactly like the head of King Cobra Snake. But later when Sita refused to stay there, she was transferred to Ashoka Vatika.
