Election Commission of India: Brief facts
Article 324 of the Indian Constitution deals with the appointment of an Election Commission which is responsible for directing, controlling and supervising election in India. It is the body which exercise jurisdiction over elections in Parliament, State Legislatures, office of the President and Vice President.

Composition of Election Commission: Article 324(2) of the Constitution provides for the composition of Election Commission. It provides that there shall be the Chief Election Commissioner and such number of Election Commissioners, as the President fixed from time to time.

When there is appointment of any Election Commissioner, the Chief Election Commissioner shall act as the Chairman of the Election Commission.
Currently, Sh. Sunil Arora is serving as the Chief Election Commissioner of India.
