A few information about Republic Day in India
India became republic on January 26 1950 that is after 3 years of independenceRepublic day is celebrated every year at Rajpath where President of India presides over the celebration.

It took 2 years 11 months and 18 days to draft the Constitution of India and the drafting committee was led by Dr B R Ambedkar.The longest constitution to be written in the world which has 444 articles divided into 22 parts and 12 schedules is the Indian Constitution. Amendments were added to Constitution 118 times.The Indian Constitution is handwritten and there is no printed copies of the same. Among the two copies of Indian constitution one is in Hindi and the other in English.At the library of Parliament House the original copies of the Indian Constitution is preserved in special helium-filled cases.

The three day long Republic day celebrations end on 29th January with Beating Retreat Ceremony.The Christian hymn, "Abide With Me" is played during every Republic day celebration, the same is believed to be the favourite of Mahatma Gandhi.Republic day celebrations were organised from 1950 to 1954 at National Stadium, Red Fort, Ramlila ground and it was in 1955, that Republic day was celebrated at Rajpath for the first time.

The first Governor General of Pakistan, Malik ghulam Muhammad, was the Chief guest at the Rajpath Parade in 1955.Most of the National Awards like Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan and Kirti Chakra are awarded during the Republic Day ceremony.Brazilian President Bolsonaro to the chief guest this Republic Day.
