According to the information available on the gas companies website, insurance cover of up to Rs 50 lakh is available for loss of life in any type of accident by this insurance cover cylinder. Respective oil companies bear all the cost of insurance on the cylinder.

You will get 50 lakh on death and 40 lakh on the injury due to accident caused by Gas Cylinder
An insurance cover of Rs 40 lakh can be claimed in case of an accident, while Rs 50 lakh can be claimed in case of death due to cylinder breakdown. A maximum compensation of Rs. 10 lakh can be given to each person who is the victim of the accident.

Who can take insurance?
Petroleum companies Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum Distributors have to insure this. These people have to take insurance policy for accidents including third party insurance cover for customers and other assets.
How to claim?
The customer has to inform the police station and the LPG dispatcher within 30 days if an accident occurs. You have to keep a copy of the FIR to claim the insurance amount, a bill for treating the injured, and a report on the death of someone. After providing the information, the concerned officer investigates the cause of the accident and notifies the distributor gas company if there is an accident through LPG.

When you report an accident to your LPG distributor, it notifies the respective oil company and the insurance company. It is the distributor itself that helps the customer complete the required formalities for a claim. The distributor and customer service cell have all the details.
It is necessary to check the expiry date of the cylinder for insurance
It is only insured when buying a cylinder, which is linked to the cylinder's expiry date. Often people buy it without checking expiry date. In such a case no customer is entitled to claim insurance.

How to check expiry date for gas cylinder?
On each gas cylinder where the regulator is mounted, something like a D-20 is written. It should be the expiration date of the gas cylinder. Here the D-20 means that the expiration date of the gas cylinder is December 2020. Then it can be dangerous to use a gas cylinder. Such cylinders can cause gas leakage and other problems. The regulator has three bars above the gas cylinder, each of which has A, B, C, D written on it. The gas company distributes each letter in 3 months. Here A means January to March and B means April to June. Similarly, C is July to September and D is October to December.
